Masashi Ebinuma
Masashi Ebinuma ( Japanese 海 老 沼 匡 , Ebinuma, Masashi ; born February 15, 1990 in Oyama ) is a Japanese judoka . He won two Olympic bronze medals and was three times world champion in the half-light weight category, up to 66 kilograms.
Ebinuma won the 2006 U20 Asian Championships and finished third in the U20 World Championships in 2008. In 2009 he won the Universiade in Belgrade. At the 2011 World Championships in Paris , he defeated the South Korean Cho Jun-ho in the quarter - finals, the Russian Musa Moguschkow in the semifinals and the Brazilian Leandro Cunha in the final .
A year later, he also defeated Cho Jun-ho in the quarter-finals of the Summer Olympics in London . In the semifinals he was defeated by Georgian Lascha Schawdatuaschwili , Ebinuma won the battle for bronze against Pawel Zagrodnik from Poland . In 2013 the World Championships took place in Rio de Janeiro. Ebinuma defeated Charles Chibana from Brazil in the semifinals and the Kazakh Azamat Mukanov in the final . In 2014 in Chelyabinsk , Ebinuma won his third world title, defeating French Loïc Korval in the semi-finals and Russian Mikhail Puljajew in the final . At the 2015 World Championships in Astana , Ebinuma was eliminated in the round of 16 against the Uzbek Rishod Sobirow . The 2016 Summer Olympics were like the World Championships held in Rio de Janeiro, 2013. Ebinuma reached the semi-finals and then lost to the South Korean An Ba-ul . The Japanese won the battle for bronze against the Canadian Antoine Bouchard .
In 2017, the 1.70 m tall Ebinuma switched to lightweight, the weight class up to 73 kilograms. At the 2018 Asian Games , Ebinuma won the team title with the Japanese mixed team, while Shōhei Ōno competed for Japan in the individual competition . His biggest international success to date in the new weight class was winning the Grand Slam in Osaka 2019, in which he prevailed against his teammate Soichi Hashimoto in the final .
