Hydroalumination

As hydroalumination refers to the addition of an aluminum-hydrogen compound to alkenes or alkynes . The conversion belongs to the general hydrometalation reaction type .

Dialkyl aluminum hydrides such as diisobutyl aluminum hydride (DIBAL) are often used as reducing agents for hydroaluminations . DIBAL leaves multiple carbon bonds intact at temperatures below 60 ° C, at temperatures above it attacks them with hydroalumination.

Compared to hydroboration , no peroxide is required to oxidize the Al-C bond .
