Hydrocera triflora is a plant from the family of balsaminaceae (Balsaminaceae) and the only member of the genus Hydrocera . It is native to parts of South Asia and Malesia .

description

Hydrocera triflora is a semi-aquatic, succulent , perennial and herbaceous plant . The roots are fleshy and fibrous, the stem axis is upright. The stalked leaves are arranged alternately on it. The leaf blade is linear-lanceolate to elliptical, at the base there is a pair of sessile glands.

The flowers are pink with lavender and carmine red. The four lateral sepals form two pairs and are almost as long as the petals and of the same color, the lower sepal has a short, curved spur, the five petals are not overgrown, the upper is slightly dome-shaped.

The fruit is a fleshy pseudo-berry with a hard endocarp . The latter is divided into five separate parts, each with a seed and two air sacs that carry the hydrochoric seeds.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 16.

Hydrocera triflora is native to Sri Lanka, southern India, from southern China to Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, on the Malay Peninsula, Celebes and Java.
