George Arnott Walker Arnott
George Arnott Walker Arnott (born February 6, 1799 in Edinburgh , † June 17, 1868 in Glasgow ) was a Scottish botanist . Its official botanical author's abbreviation is “ Arn. “Arnott was the director of the Botanical Gardens in Glasgow. In 1822 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh . In 1834 he became a member of the Leopoldina . The genus Arnottia from the orchid family (Orchidaceae) is named after him.
