Côtes du Marmandais is a wine-growing region in the south of France in the Sud-Ouest wine-growing region in the north-west of the Agenais .

location

The appellation, named after the small town of Marmande , is located in the north of the wine-growing region of this region. The vineyards cover around 1,700 hectares south of the Bergerac appellation and have had the status of an Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée since April 2, 1990 . The vineyards are on both sides of the Garonne and in direct extension of the Bordeaux appellations Entre deux mers and Graves .

The vineyards are located in 27 municipalities of the Lot-et-Garonne department : Beaupuy , Bouglon , Cambes , Caubon-Saint-Sauveur , Castelnau-sur-Gupie , Cocumont , Escassefort , Guérin , Lachapelle , Lagupie , Lévignac-de-Guyenne , Marcellus , Marmande , Mauvezin-sur-Gupie , Meilhan-sur-Garonne , Monteton , Montpouillan , Peyrière , Romestaing , Saint-Avit , Saint-Géraud , Saint-Martin-Petit , Saint-Sauveur-de-Meilhan , Sainte-Bazeille , Samazan , Seyches and Virazeil .

Wines

There are mainly reds and rosés produced.

The yield restrictions are 55 hectoliters / hectare for the red and rosé wines and 66 hectoliters / hectare for the white wines. The must weight for red wines must be at least 163 g / l. For rosé and white wines, this limit is a low 153 g / l.
