The International Archive for the Social History of German Literature (IASL) is a specialist literary journal . Since the 1970s it has been a forum for research contributions on the relationship between literary texts and socio-historical contexts. The spectrum of the IASL covers the entire history of German literature from the Middle Ages to the present day. Particular attention is paid to the theoretical foundations of literary history, especially the methodological and thematic points of contact between literary studies and the history and social sciences.
