Barbara Beßlich

Barbara Beßlich (* 1970 in Bonn ) is a German literary scholar .

In 1989, Barbara Beßlich received her Abitur. From 1989 to 1994 he studied German, history and philosophy at the Universities of Bonn and Freiburg .

During her studies and doctorate (1993–1999) she received a scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation . In 1994/95 she passed her first state examination in history and German. From 1996 to 1998 she was a research assistant for an edition project of the Historical Commission of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences . In 1999 she received her doctorate at the German Seminar II at the University of Freiburg . In the summer semester of the same year she was a research assistant there. From 1999 to 2005 she worked as a research assistant at Achim Aurnhammer's chair at the same location. In 2005, she received her habilitation and was appointed temporary academic advisor. In the 07/08 winter semester she was a substitute professor for modern German literary history at the University of Freiburg. This was followed in 2008 by a substitute professor at Heidelberg University . Since the winter semester of this year, she has been teaching there as the successor to Dieter Borchmeyer as professor of modern German literature . From 2011 to 2012 she was a fellow at the Marsilius-Kolleg (Institute for Advanced Studies at Heidelberg University). In 2015 she was accepted as a full member of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences . In 2007 she was awarded the Walter Witzenmann Prize by the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences.
