ICIUM Wonderworld of Ice is a winter amusement park created from ice and snow in Levi , Finland . The first park opened on December 18, 2010. In the park, both ice sculptures and snow sculptures are exhibited in an area of ​​around one hectare.

ICIUM is built by Chinese ice sculptors who come from Harbin City , where Harbin International One Festival has been held annually since 1963 .

More than 10,000 cubic meters of snow were used in the construction of the first ICIUM in 2010. The builders also had over 600 cubic meters of ice cut from the Ounasjoki River, from which the sculptures were carved.

The main attractions of ICIUMS in the 2010-2011 season were:

  • The Great Wall of China as a snow slide. The largest snow building, the Great Wall of China, was 15 meters high and 80 meters long. More than 5,000 cubic meters of snow were used for construction.
  • The Helsinki Cathedral . With a height of 15 meters, Helsinki Cathedral, together with the Chinese Wall Slide, was one of the most impressive snow buildings by ICIUM.
  • Helsinki Central Station .
  • The pagoda . The green pagoda, with a height of 15 meters, was also one of the tallest ice sculptures.
  • Heavenly temple.
  • Beijing National Stadium .
  • The Terracotta Army . Ice sculptures of the famous terracotta soldiers.

Chinese folk artist

Folk artists from Beijing were also present at ICIUM and demonstrated how traditional folk art is made, such as B. Straw lichen, the artistic painting of the snuff bottles and dough sculptures.

The ICIUM mascot

Mingming, a baby panda from the Bamboo fairy tale world, is ICIUM's mascot . During its first adventure, it tries to save its home from an evil dragon and receives support from grandfather the reindeer Niila, the reindeer fawn Nina and Santa Claus himself.
