The IE University is a Spanish private university sponsored by the for-profit company Instituto de Empresa SL , with offices in Segovia ( Castile and Leon ) and Madrid .

The university was founded in 2006 and has bachelor’s degree programs in addition to the associated IE Business School , which exclusively offers postgraduate degree programs and various further education and MBA programs . The languages ​​of instruction are English and Spanish.

founding

The first building was in the former monastery of Santa Maria la Real, founded after the Instituto de Empresa company took over the Universidad SEK there, which was founded in 1997. In 2004, new rules of procedure were agreed . In 2006 parts of the institution were transferred to the Society of the Instituto de Empresa. In 2008, the name was finally changed from SEK Universidad to IE Universidad (in Spanish) and IE University (as a commercial name), where IE stands for Instituto de Empresa. IE University started operations in 2009. The first study group graduated in 2013.

In addition, IE University also offers a Summer School and Junior Advisory Board for high school students and a summer study program with Brown University for students.

Rankings and accreditations

IE University is one of the leading universities in Spain and Europe. Above all, the associated IE Business School takes top positions in numerous national and international rankings.

In the ranking of "Education Times" ( The Times of India ) and "Youth Incorporated", IE University reached fifth place in Spain and 25th worldwide. In the New York Times Global Employability Survey 2018 , IE University was ranked number 1 in Spain, number 7 in Europe and number 24 worldwide.

The BBA program, which is the largest, has been accredited by the renowned accreditation bodies AACSB and EQUIS .

The educational institution currently has a partnership with the CFA Institute and is part of the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs (APSIA).
