The IFR instrument flight school Reichelsheim , shortly IFR flight school is a public commercial pilot school and correspondence school headquartered at reichelsheim airport ( Wetterau ). It was founded in 1988 and has been training professional pilots in theory and practice since then ; its legal form is that of a GmbH.

Naming

The abbreviation IFR stands for I nstrumenten F lugschule R eichelsheim. The flight school has had this name since it was founded; it is due to the instrument rating = IR (A). At the time the company was founded, training in instrument flying was rare compared to today and was considered something special in addition to the private pilot license or the professional pilot license.

structure

The school is certified as an ATO (Approved Training Organization) in accordance with the requirements for pilot training according to EASA Part-FCL, formerly JAR-FCL 1, and has the approval number DE.ATO.035. The school's focus is on modular training, i.e. In other words, the license is acquired in several individual stages. This contrasts with the continuous training that the school only offers for prospective flight dispatchers.

Despite a broad spectrum of training, the IFR flight school has remained relatively small. With 60 to 80 students per year, the training is very personal and less geared towards series production.

Company history

1988 to 1990

During the first few years, in addition to private pilot training, the training was limited to professional pilots. Both training courses could be supplemented by the instrument flying license.

The company founders were Ernst Meuser and Ottmar Reithel.

1991 to 1999

In spring 1991 the range of training was expanded. In addition, there was training to become a commercial pilot and long-range authorization.

Also in 1991 the team was strengthened by the Reinhold family. Christiane Reinhold took over the duties of another managing director; Ottmar Reithel left the company.

1999 to 2001

In 1999, Klaus Hübschen joined the flight school as a further managing partner. He also accompanies the task of the training manager.

In 2000, the type rating training for the Piper PA-46 was included in the program and has been an integral part since then. The special thing about it is that the students can complete their training on their own aircraft. This form of training was later transferred to all training courses.

2001 to 2011

As the only public flight school, the IFR flight school received the training permit for flight dispatchers in 2001 . The training carried out in accordance with the Ordinance on Aviation Personnel (LuftPersV) is only available in Germany and is carried out in cooperation with TUIfly GmbH.

In 2003 Ernst Meuser left the company and the school was managed by Klaus Hübschen and Christiane Reinhold from then on.

In 2010 the flight school began to develop its own distance learning courses in cooperation with the software company Peters Software GmbH from Cologne, in which the teaching material is only presented online. Since there was no such form of distance learning for pilots in the past, the flight school called the new learning with the inclusion of new technologies "next-level learning".

2011 until today

The new "Corporate eAcademy" distance learning courses were initially approved for training by the State Central Office for Distance Learning (ZFU) on February 17, 2011. The scope of the course extends from the private pilot license to the commercial pilot license and includes the training to become a flight dispatcher and instrument flight authorization. For submission to the Federal Aviation Office after but was initially only the ATPL (A). The application for training based on the new eAcademy for ATPL (A) was granted on January 27, 2012. Since then, the IFR flight school has been the official provider of distance learning courses. In March 2012, the applications for the other courses that had already been approved by the ZFU followed. They were jointly approved on August 21, 2012.

On March 8, 2012, Roland Otto was appointed as a further managing partner. He is the head behind the next-level learning program and has been part of the IFR flight school team since 2007. In June 2017 the Reinhold family left the company and sold their shares in the company to Norbert Oppitz. In November 2016, the current shareholders initiated the takeover of the Motorflugschule Egelsbach GmbH in order to be more represented in the south of the Rhine-Main area and in one of the most important airfields for general aviation. In addition, the flight school operates a branch in Egelsbach. The IFR flight school cooperates with many other flight schools and flight clubs in Germany, which offers further training, e.g. B. the instrument flight training can perform.

Training

The IFR flight school's range of training includes the following licenses and ratings:

Implementation of training

The training for ATPL (A), CPL (A), EIR, CB-IR and IR (A) is offered in modules. Theoretical training is carried out via the flight school's own distance learning courses. The flight dispatcher training is offered as a full-time course and as a distance learning course.

For practical training, the school relies on an FNPT-II flight simulator and an aircraft fleet of tried and tested models such as B. Diamond DA20 , Piper PA-28 -Arrow and Diamond DA42 NG with glass cockpit. Students who have their own aircraft can use it for their own training.
