iM1 was a German music television broadcaster based in Frankfurt am Main . After a test phase lasting several months, official broadcasting began on May 24, 2006.

On February 13, 2014 it became known that iMusic TV GmbH had filed for bankruptcy at the Offenbach District Court in early February 2014 . As early as February 3, 2014, the station was owned by the British 360 Music Television Ltd. taken over, which iM1 wants to target an even younger audience and has further offshoots in prospect. With the takeover of the station, iM1 was replaced on April 7, 2014 by iM1 hits on the distribution channels of satellite and cable TV.

After the broadcasting of iM1 Hits was interrupted on August 14, 2014, iM1 ceased operations on August 27.

iM1 program

iM1 saw itself as an interactive , genre-independent music television that tried to differentiate itself from the declining music content of popular broadcasters such as MTV or VIVA. The following programs were on the program:

  • Trend Show presented popular music videos and newcomers and gives an outlook on new trends in the international music scene.
  • Made in Germany - the show with German artists and music produced in Germany (e.g. Grönemeyer, Rammstein, No Angels or Sido).
  • Mixery On Stage - the event magazine on iM1 with reports from the techno scene and interviews with DJs and live acts from the scene, as well as reports from events (e.g. ADE, KaZantip, EXIT, Mayday, 5 Days Off etc.) Moderation: Lara Zakon
  • Dance Culture is dedicated to house , dance , trance , electro and chillout music.
  • iM1 Rocks - daily program with metal, current rock videos, interviews, festival reports and thematic specials from the world of electric guitars.
  • Streetsoul shows hip-hop and R'n'B videos.
  • Hot 40 is a music show with the latest video clips from international stars.

reception

iM1 was broadcast via Astra 19.2 ° East until April 6, 2014. In addition to satellite broadcasting, iM1 could also be received in the digital cable network of Unitymedia , via the Neubrandenburg cable network , via wilhelm.tel in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein and, since 2011, via the digital cable network of the WTC in Lüneburg. According to the broadcaster, over 30 million potential viewers were reached via the above-mentioned distribution channels - with the exception of IPTV.

iM1 HD has been available in the HD Start package via Telekom Entertain since September 2013 .

iM1 hits and further expansion plans

Logo of iM1 Hits

iM1 was replaced by iM1 Hits on April 7, 2014 via satellite and cable. iM1 Hits sent the current chart hits in a continuous loop and used a paid voting system similar to Get the Clip . At the same time the screen design was renewed.

The step was justified in a statement from the broadcaster on its Facebook page by stating that “this concept literally went bankrupt at the beginning of February”. The operators intend to convert the station into a station group with different target group programs. The previous program concept “iM1 - intergalactic music tv” will be continued on the Entertain platform of Telekom and should be expanded to other platforms if possible.

attitude

On August 14, 2014 the broadcasting of iM1 Hits was interrupted. Since then, a notice board has been sent via satellite with the note "Short sound check - we'll go on soon". On August 18, 2014, a notice board was put up via the cable network of Unitymedia Kabel BW , which indicates the end of broadcasting operations. The sender can no longer be reached by telephone. On September 1st the operation of iM1 Hits was finally stopped, iM1 already on August 27th. The operator has not yet stated that all websites and the Facebook page have been switched off.

Others

The station hit the headlines at the beginning of 2007 when it offered the Wiesbaden long-term unemployed Henrico Frank a job after a week-long public dispute with the Rhineland-Palatinate Prime Minister Kurt Beck .
