IMC UNESCO Music Prize

The IMC-UNESCO Music Prize was awarded from 1975 to 2005 by the International Music Council (IMC), from 1978 in collaboration with UNESCO . The prize was awarded in five categories: composition, performance, musicology / music journalism, music education and to “public figures who have played an important role locally or internationally in more than one area of ​​music” or to “institutions for their activities in the service of music. Initially, the award ceremony took place every two years at different locations, e.g. B. Paris , Stockholm , Alicante . From 1994 to 2005 the prize was awarded annually in Aachen . The ceremony took place in the coronation hall of the Aachen town hall. The winners received a certificate, the Unesco Picasso-Miro Medal and 2,500 euros.
