ISO 3166-2: AN
ISO 3166-2: AN was the standard used to identify geographical units of the Netherlands Antilles , it only contained the code for the Netherlands Antilles - there were no further subdivisions.
This code consisted of only one part. This gave the code according to ISO 3166-1 (for the Netherlands Antilles AN ). The country code was not updated after its publication in 1998 until it was finally deleted on December 15, 2010 after the dissolution of the Netherlands Antilles on October 10, 2010.
The ISO-3166-2 codes now apply to the political units of the former Netherlands Antilles:
- ISO 3166-2: AW for Aruba
- ISO 3166-2: BQ for the three special municipalities
- ISO 3166-2: CW for Curacao
- ISO 3166-2: SX for Sint Maarten
- and parallel to ISO 3166-2: BQ also subcodes of ISO 3166-2: NL for the three special municipalities
