ISO 3166-2: NL

The list of ISO-3166-2 codes for the Netherlands contains the codes for the twelve Dutch provincies , three parts of the Caribbean and three special municipalities .

The codes consist of two parts separated by a hyphen. The first part gives the country code according to ISO 3166-1 (for the Netherlands NL), the second the code for the province, the part of the country or the “special municipality”.

The current country code was last updated in Newsletter II-3 of December 13, 2011 ( PDF ).

The Dutch provinces and "special municipalities"

Separate codes according to ISO 3166-2 also exist for the special municipalities and the parts of the country in the Caribbean. These are ISO 3166-2: AW , BQ , CW and SX .
