I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change (dt .: love, engaged, cramped again! ) Is an off-Broadway -Stück that of Joe DiPietro written and directed by Jimmy Roberts was composed. Despite the over 50 different roles, the play is typically played Off-Broadway with a small cast of four actors.

Performance history

The play premiered on August 1, 1996 at New York's Westside Theater and was performed there until July 27, 2008.

In the UK , the off-Broadway play was first performed at the Churchill Theater in Bromley . In 1999 a short season at the West End Comedy Theater followed. In London , the play was the first time in 2005 in Jermyn Street Theater brought to the stage.

In 2005 the musical was first staged in Berlin at the Hansa Theater, directed by Thomas Grandoch . A new German version by Alexander Kuchinka was performed for the first time in 2011 in the 82er Haus Theater in Gablitz and in the Vienna Metropol and on January 18, 2013 again in the Kottingbrunn cultural scene . In addition, the musical association in Augsburg performed the piece in this version in autumn 2015.

The Chinese version of the piece debuted in Beijing on June 20, 2007 .

I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change is presented in small, incoherent scenes, which get their red thread through the themes of love and relationships. In the original English version, the piece bears the subtitle: “ Everything you secretly always thought about dating, romances, marriage, lovers, husbands, wives and unequal couples, but did not want to admit. . "

At first glance, the scenes are in no way related to each other, but a certain path through life can be recognized. For example, the first date comes before scenes that deal with marriage, which in turn come before the scenes in which family life is shown.
