Joe DiPietro

Joe DiPietro (* 1961 ) is an American playwright who works primarily in the areas of off-Broadway and musicals .

Life

Joe DiPietro wrote, among other things, the off-Broadway -Stück Over the River and Through the Woods , which was played in over a hundred productions. His comic thriller The Art of Murder won the 2000 Edgar Award (a kind of "Oscar" for crime writers) for best play. Joe DiPietro also wrote the book for the "new" Gershwin musical They all laughed! , and a new libretto from Rodgers & Hammerstein 's Allegro . In 2003 his musical Can't help falling in love came on stage with songs by Elvis Presley . Together with the composer Jimmy Roberts he wrote the piece The Thing about Men based on the film Men by Doris Dörrie .
