Ialoveni [ialo'ven] (1944–1989 Cyrillic Яловень , Russian Jaloweny / Яловены ) is the capital of the Ialoveni Rajons in the Republic of Moldova , about ten kilometers south of the capital Chișinău . The city was founded in 1502 and is known for the "Ialoveni" brand of wine made in Ialoveni.
There was a military cemetery in Ialoveni, but it was destroyed by the Soviet authorities. The Romanian soldiers who died in the war against the Soviet Union in 1941 were buried here.
