The Ialoveni Raion is a raion in the Republic of Moldova . The capital of the Rajons is Ialoveni .

geography

The Rajon is located in the center of the country. It borders on the municipality of Chișinău and the Rajons Anenii Noi , Căușeni , Cimișlia , Hîncești and Strășeni .

history

The Rajon Ialoveni has existed since 2003. Until February 2003, the area belonged together with the present-day Rajons Anenii Noi, Criuleni and Strășeni to the now dissolved district of Chișinău (Județul Chișinău).

population

Population development

In 1959 64,111 inhabitants lived in the area of ​​today's Rajons. In the following decades the number of inhabitants increased continuously: from 76,952 in 1970 to 82,861 in 1979 to 90,942 in 1989. While the population of Moldova fell until the next census in 2004, it rose further to 97,704 in Ialoveni district . In 2014 it was 93,154.

Ethnic groups

According to the 2004 census, the Moldovans make up by far the largest ethnic group with 93.5%, while 75.8% of the nationwide describe themselves as Moldovans. Smaller minorities in the Ialoveni district are the Romanians with 2.7%, the Ukrainians and Russians with 1.1%, the Bulgarians with 1.0% and the Gagauz with 0.1%.

Culture and sights

The state winery Mileştii Mici has the largest collection of rare wines in Moldova.
