The Șoldăneşti Raion is a raion in the Republic of Moldova . The capital of the Rajons is Șoldăneşti .

geography

The Rajon is located in the northeast of the country on the Dniester River . It borders on the Floreşti , Rezina and Teleneşti Rajons and the breakaway region of Transnistria .

history

The Șoldăneşti Rajon has existed since 2003.

population

Population development

1959 lived in the area of ​​today's Rajons 49,618 inhabitants. By 1970 the population had increased to 51,722. In the following decades, however, the population fell below the value of 1959, from 48,160 in 1979 to 46,853 in 1989. At the 2014 census, only 36,743 people lived in Șoldăneşti Rajon.

Ethnic groups

According to the 2004 census, the Moldovans make up by far the largest ethnic group with 95.6%, while 75.8% of the nationwide describe themselves as Moldovans. The national minorities in Șoldăneşti Rajon are the Ukrainians with 2.5%, the Russians with 0.9% and the Romanians with 0.7%.
