Ian Warwick Brown (born April 4, 1954 ) is a retired Australian sailor .

Ian Brown took part in the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal in the 470 dinghy . Together with Ian Ruff , he finished third behind the Germans Harro Bode and Frank Hübner as well as Antonio Gorostegui and Pedro Millet from Spain. They received the bronze medal with a total of 57 points in front of the tied Soviet boat, before which they were classified thanks to a first place in the sixth race. The two Soviet sailors Viktor and Alexander Potapov only got two second places. Brown was also qualified for the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow , but missed another Olympic start due to Australia's participation in the Olympic boycott. In 1984 he belonged to the Olympic reserve before he accompanied the Olympic delegation as a trainer in 1988 .
