Vivian Ian Smith (born February 23, 1925 in Durban - † August 25, 2015 ) was a South African cricketer who took part in nine test matches for the South African national team between 1947 and 1957 .

Smith was a right-handed leg-break - Bowler and a lower-order right-handed batsman . He made his Test debut against England in 1947 , scoring seven wickets (3/46 and 4/143). In the 1949/1950 season he played three Tests against Australia in South Africa . He played one further test in England in 1955 and against Australia in the 1957/58 season . However, he did not manage to build on his performance in the first test, as he only scored five wickets in the other eight tests.

From the 1945/46 season to 1957/58 he played in national South African cricket for Natal . His best bowling performance was 9/88 in the innings and 12/194 in the game against Border in the 1946/1947 season . Smith died on August 25, 2015.
