Iban Zubiaurre Urrutia (born January 22, 1983 in Mendaro , Gipuzkoa ) is a Spanish football player . He plays since 2012 UD Salamanca in the Segunda División B .

Career

Zubiaurre began his career in the youth team of Real Sociedad , from which he was brought to the second team in 2000. Already in the first season (2000/01) with the B-team you could move up from the Tercéra Division to the Segunda Division B, but you immediately descended again. In the following season you could celebrate the promotion again. Then the B-team consolidated and remained in the third highest division.

Zubiaurre was appointed to the first team squad in 2004. The defender made his debut in the Primera Division on November 28, 2004 against Deportivo La Coruña . He played through. In his first season he came on 14 missions. The club was 14th in the league.

After a year off, he moved to Athletic Bilbao at the beginning of the 2006/07 season . There he was only able to book one appearance because a dispute between the two traditional Basque clubs prevented Zubiaurre from playing in an official match for Bilbao for 14 months. The cause of the disputes was the invalid termination of his contract with the "txuri urdin", despite a contract period of another year and a release clause of 33 million euros. The provincial club SCD Durango ultimately offered both parties to the dispute in vain to accept the player for the duration of the negotiations and allow him to play.

After 15 months of anxious waiting, a court ruled that Athletic had to pay five million euros to the Basque rival and that he could now play again. After the waiting time, he was introduced to the fans a second time in the San Mamés . On February 11, 2007, his first appearance for the new club in the game against Atlético Madrid followed . In the meantime, the fuss about his move was gone, but it still went very badly for Zubiaurre, as he only made two appearances.

Finally, in January 2008, Real Sociedad's new president Badiola Athletic proposed a curious out-of-court settlement. After that, instead of the estimated 33 million, they wanted to ask for a significantly lower amount (the available information fluctuates between ten and 17 million euros) and also ask for no less than 200 friendlies over the next 100 years (with a return match to the respective city festivities ).

He was then awarded to the Segunda División for FC Elche . There he came back to regular missions (23) and scored a goal.

He has been back in the Athletic squad since the 2009/10 season. This season he made his debut at European club level. In the group home game of the Europa League against the Austrian representative FK Austria Wien , he came on for Andoni Iraola in the 76th minute . The game was won 3-0. However, he got little playing time, especially in the league, and was therefore awarded again to the Segunda División for the 2010/11 season , this time to Albacete Balompié .

The 2011/12 season he spent again at Athletic Bilbao, where he was not used. In July 2012 he was loaned to the UD Salamanca .
