Iben Hjejle (born March 22, 1971 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish actress . Today she is considered one of Denmark's leading actresses.

Life

Iben Hjejle was born in the Søborg district of Copenhagen . Here she grew up as the daughter of elementary school teacher Christian Hjejle and high school teacher Annelise Kirsten. When she was ten years old, the parents divorced and the father moved downtown. At first Iben only lived with her mother, later with stepfather, stepsister and her half-sister in Søborg. As a teenager she attended Det frie high school . Hjejle finished her training at the state theater school Statens Teaterskole in her hometown in 1996 and has since played in various national and international film and television productions.

Internationally she is best known for her female lead in High Fidelity . In 2010 she was featured in the television advertising of the Austrian Erste Bank , since 2011 she has mainly appeared in leading roles in series on Danish television, for example in the crime film series Dicte , which was also broadcast under the original title on German television on ZDFneo and repeated several times.
