Ida Boros
Ida Boros (born August 14, 1923 in Budapest , † May 16, 2002 in Los Angeles ) was a Hungarian singer and actress .
Ida Boros became popular in Hungary with the song "Honvágy-dal" (The Song of Homesickness). This was a cover version of the song " Memories Are Made of This ", which her husband, the author István Gommermann, had given a new text in 1956. Later, after the failed Hungarian popular uprising , it became the unofficial anthem of the refugee revolutionaries. Due to the politically tense situation, Boros left the country with her husband and settled in Munich . Istvan Gommermann changed his first name to "Stefan" and was soon able to establish himself as a sketch and screenwriter in West Germany.
Since 1961 Boros, who had already appeared in a number of Hungarian films, appeared in several German cinema and television productions. She had a bigger part in Three Men in a Boat , where she played the spirited Hungarian friend of Hans-Joachim Kulenkampff , who was also published in 1961.
In the early 1970s she emigrated with Gommermann to California , where the couple, who changed their surname to "Gommerman", ran the Eva and Steve Dorog Gallery.
