action

Rosemarie and Peter Schulze have been married for half a year and have just moved into a new apartment. While Rosemarie at home, the new cleaning lady instructor Erna Meyer, receives Peter, who actually inspector in the homicide is a new job. At the urging of MP Windmacher, he should clarify the origin of some pornographic images for the customs department . Meanwhile, in the establishment of a certain Madame Kovacz, disguised as an antique shop, the new employee Vivi has started work. She meets with a customer in an apartment that is in the same building as the Schulzes' apartment. Meanwhile, inspector Peter Schulze and his assistant are following the first lead that leads them to the well-known bar “Bei Jonny”. Vivi has since returned to her unsuspecting fiancé, the less than successful sculptor Gabriel Ernst. When he discovers a ring that Vivi got from her customer, she simply lies to him that her friend Rosemarie is offering her the piece of jewelry for sale.

The next morning, the investigators expect the arrival of a highly suspicious man named Meister from Frankfurt . His companion also works for Madame Kovacz and maintains contact with MP Windmacher, of all people. On the recommendation of Madame Kovacz, Master wants to pay a visit to the attractive Vivi. In the elevator, the carpenter Otto Schwarz, who is to repair the Schulze's bed on Erna Meyer's behalf, engages him in a momentous conversation. In the end, both no longer know which floor they have to go to. So the craftsman ends up with Vivi and the suitor, shadowed by two detectives, ends up with Rosemarie Schulze.

A little later, Meister reports to his boss Lajos that he has left a whole bag with slippery photos with Rosemarie Schulze. Lajos then breaks into the Schulze's apartment. Meanwhile, Detective Director Lessing informs Peter Schulze about the monstrous suspicion that Rosemarie is secretly working as a call girl . When Peter rushes to his wife, the sculptor Gabriel Ernst shows up to bring back the ring that, according to his wife, belongs to Rosemarie. When he discovers Lajos in the closet, Peter sees his colleagues' suspicions confirmed. He's demanding a divorce.

At the same time, the cleaning lady Erna Meyer and the carpenter Otto Schwarz get close. Otto tells of his special experiences in Vivi's apartment. Then Erna discovers the bag with the offensive photos, which was obviously confused with Otto's tool bag. When Erna and Otto pay a visit to the desperate Rosemarie, the women's criminological talents are awakened. Even before the official investigators, they suspect that all the mix-ups are related to a long-sought call girl ring. They are following the woman who met with MP Windmacher in the apartment above the Schulzes. After a visit to the “Bei Jonny” bar, the call girl as well as Erna and Rosemarie end up in police custody . At the watch, Windmacher had an unexpected encounter with the call girl, who also turned out to be a model in the immoral photos.

Erna and Rosemarie, who are at large again, have found the Kovacz antique shop as the base of the call girl ring. Lajos, master and his companion are able to expose and detain the two detectives. Meanwhile, the carpenter Otto Schwarz explains to the inspector Peter Schulze that the two apartments have been mixed up. With Vivi's support, Peter and his colleagues succeed in breaking the call girl ring and freeing his wife and Erna from the hands of the criminals.

History of origin

Pre-production and script

Always trouble with the bed is based on an idea by Stefan Gommermann. The film was made under the working title Meine Frau, das Callgirl as a parody of the popular moral and scandal films of the time . Not least because of the sensational murder of the prostitute Rosemarie Nitribitt in October 1957, this genre was particularly popular until the early 1960s. In addition to Gommermann, who gave the idea, Janne Furch was hired to produce the script .

production

To be seen in the film: the sculpture of a young bear in front of the Dietrich Bonhoeffer primary school in Berlin-Westend .

The shooting took place from April to May 1961 in West Berlin and in the studios of CCC-Film in Berlin-Haselhorst . The film constructions came from Paul Markwitz and Wilhelm Vorwerg . Vera Mügge acted as costume designer . The assistant director was Eva Ebner .

Reviews

“[…] As is customary in crime grotesques, one involvement replaces the other, until Trude Herr, as a cleaning lady with a flair for crime, finds the really easy girls. Not least thanks to her comic talent, the whole thing remains cheerful and harmless fun. "

- Hamburger Abendblatt , August 26, 1961

"Even if this topic would have been more suitable as a parody, instead of operating with slapstick and prototypes, amusing situations and dialogue points come about with good-humored actors that make the whole thing [...] quite entertaining for urban circles."

- Paimann's film lists , August 31, 1961

"A film amusement game whose tiny parodic approaches disappear behind its clumsy comedy."
