Berlin International Film Festival 1961
The 1961 Berlin International Film Festival took place from June 23 to July 4, 1961.
Although the Berlinale program featured top-class artists, the US actress Jayne Mansfield attracted the greatest attention as a guest at the Berlinale. The German press was more likely to talk about the Busen Berlinale than about a festival of film art. The German press reported rather little about the approaching Berlin crisis with the height of the building of the Wall in August and the simultaneous taking place of a film festival with films from 46 countries.
