Berlin International Film Festival 1967
The 1967 Berlin International Film Festival took place from June 23 to July 4, 1967.
The Berlinale was overshadowed by the first student riots after the demonstration in West Berlin on June 2, 1967 against the Shah , in which the student Benno Ohnesorg was shot, and the six-day war between Israel and its neighbors. The Berliner Festspiele had been converted into a GmbH in the course of 1966 , and so the Berlinale began in 1967 for the first time with its nationalized status. It was hoped that it would be possible to invite such socialist states, but it still failed. Only Yugoslavia, a guest of the festival since the 1950s, accepted the invitation.
