Ideler is an impact crater on the southern hemisphere of the moon that is visible from Earth, but looks distorted due to its location. It is exactly northeast of the Baco crater . Other notable craters in the area are the Breislak crater in a west-northwest direction and the striking Pitiscus crater in the east-southeast.

Together with the satellite crater 'Ideler L', Ideler forms a matching pair, with Ideler covering the partner with its eastern edge. The smaller satellite crater 'Baco R' adjoins the opposite western edge. The remaining rim of the crater has been removed and a pair of small craters have been drawn on the north side at the rim and on the inner wall. The crater floor shows no notable features.
