Christian Ludwig Ideler
Christian Ludwig Ideler (born September 21, 1766 in Groß Breese near Perleberg , † August 10, 1846 in Berlin ) was a German astronomer .
From 1794 he was a royal astronomer and calculator of the state calendar. In 1806 he was elected a corresponding member of the Göttingen Academy of Sciences . In 1810 he became a member of the Royal Prussian Academy of Sciences and a member of the calendar deputation . On December 18, 1814, he received an honorary doctorate in philosophy from the University of Berlin . He taught at the royal court from 1816 to 1822 the princes Wilhelm, Friedrich and Karl. From 1821 Ideler was professor at the Berlin University and at the same time director of studies of the cadet corps, teacher at the forest academy and at the general war school in Berlin.
His son was the linguist and natural scientist Julius Ludwig Ideler . His nephew was the psychiatrist Karl Wilhelm Ideler . His son-in-law was the constitutional lawyer Wilhelm Eduard Albrecht .
The lunar crater Ideler is named after him.
