Ido Drent

Ido Drent (born January 27, 1987 in Pretoria ) is a South African actor who is known to German television audiences through his role as Detective Sergeant (DS) Justin Harding in the television series "Auckland Detectives - Tödliche Bucht" (The Gulf) has become.

Life

He grew up in Potchefstroom , South Africa , until the age of 8 . In January 1996 he moved to New Zealand with his family . He was an avid tennis player during high school in Hamilton . After graduating from high school, Drent studied business administration and worked in the real estate development industry. After some part-time jobs on TV spots, he became enthusiastic about acting. He also worked as a model and was contracted to various modeling agencies. He then attended the Meisner Acting course and successfully applied for a role in the soap opera Shortland in 2008 ; debuted here for the series in March 2009 and became a heartthrob in the role of Daniel Potts, the "bad boy" and illegitimate son of Sarah Potts (played by Amanda Billings ).

In 2012, Drent left his Shortland Street series to pursue career opportunities in Australia. In May 2013 he started in the television series Offspring . He also got the role of drummer Jon Farriss on the miniseries about INXS .

Ido Drent currently lives in Auckland, New Zealand. He is strongly influenced by Christianity and a member of the Pentecostal Church . He has been married to make-up artist Mandy (Amanda) Hodges since December 2011 . Their son Bastion Dirk was born in 2015 and their daughter Elliotte Lilian was born in 2016.

In 2010, 2011 and 2012 Drent was ambassador to the Christian non-governmental organization World Vision Australia and participated in the “40-hour famine” campaign, in which he raised money for children in need in East Timor . He also got involved with McDonald's Children's Aid and took part in a running competition in which he had to run 20 km a day for a week to raise money for the “Ronald McDonald House” charity. However, he had to stop because he got sick and feared he might have meningitis . He also campaigns against smoking in New Zealand.
