Ieuan Cennydd Evans (born March 21, 1964 in Pontarddulais ) is a former Welsh rugby union player who played on the position of the outer three-quarter .
Evans began his athletic career while at school in Carmarthen . At the age of 19 he joined the Llanelli Rugby Club . At the time he was studying at Salford University . Evan's team made it into seven cup finals, five of which were won. In 1997 he moved to Bath , in his last season as an active player he won the Heineken Cup with this team .
Evans made his first international match against France in Paris in 1987 . 71 more international matches followed, in which he ran 28 times as captain and scored 33 attempts . He broke the previous Welsh record. In 1994 he led Wales to the Five Nations victory . Evans played his last game in 1998 against Italy .
He participated in three tours, Australia in 1989 , New Zealand in 1993 and South Africa in 1997 , by the British and Irish Lions . In 1993 he got four attempts against the All Blacks .
In 1996 Evans was awarded the Order of Member of the British Empire for his outstanding achievements . He ended his career in 1999 and started a marketing company. In 2007 he was inducted into the International Rugby Hall of Fame .
