Igelsberg has belonged to the Reichenbach monastery office since 1381 and came to Württemberg with it in 1595 . From 1807 Igelsberg belonged to the Oberamt Freudenstadt. On July 1, 1971 Igelsberg was incorporated into Freudenstadt .

Igelsberg has almost 300 inhabitants and is characterized by agriculture. The village with numerous guesthouses and, since 1890, the Hotel Krone in the center of the village offers relaxation in the Black Forest area, especially for spa and holiday guests. The nearby Nagoldtalsperre reservoir offers the opportunity to swim and the developed forests in the area are ideal for hiking.

coat of arms

The former municipal coat of arms shows on a red background a golden abbot's staff growing from a silver three-mountain, which is between the coats of arms of the Reichenbach monastery (in gold, the red lowercase letter r in fracture) and the Count Palatine of Tübingen (in gold, a three-legged red flag).
