Ignace Strasfogel
Ignace Strasfogel (born July 17, 1909 in Warsaw , † February 6, 1994 in New York ) was a Polish composer and conductor .
biography
Strasfogel lived in Berlin since 1912 and was a composition student of Franz Schreker . In 1926 he won the Mendelssohn Prize for his 2nd piano sonata. In January 1934 he was forced to emigrate and worked as a pianist and conductor in the USA ( Metropolitan Opera ). It was only after a 35-year break in composition (1948–1983) that he wrote further works for piano, chamber music and songs.
