Ignacio Eizaguirre
Ignacio Eizaguirre (born November 7, 1920 in Donostia-San Sebastián , † September 1, 2013 ibid) was a Spanish football goalkeeper .
Athletic career
Eizaguirre moved in 1939 at Real Sociedad San Sebastián from youth to the competition team competing in the Segunda División . After one season he moved to Valencia CF in the Primera Division . There he made his debut in December 1941 and established himself as the club's regular goalkeeper. In 1942, 1944 and 1947 he won the Spanish championship title with the club and the Spanish National Cup in 1949 and became a national player when he made his debut in the Spanish national team in 1945 . In 1950 he took part with the national team in the 1950 World Cup, in which Spain finished fourth. He then returned to the Basque Country and played again until 1956 for Real Sociedad San Sebastian and then for CA Osasuna in Navarra . In 1960 he ended his active career at the age of almost 40.
After his active career Eizaguirre worked as a coach, but he was for Córdoba CF , the FC Sevilla and FC Granada active in the top division.
