Ignacio Garrido (born March 27, 1972 in Madrid ) is a Spanish professional golfer on the European Tour .
He won the English Amateur Open Stroke Play Championship in 1992 and became a professional golfer in 1993 . After a season on the Challenge Tour , Garrido became a member of the European Tour in 1994. He had his best season in 1997 when he finished sixth in the European Tour Order of Merit , which brought him to the - later victorious - European team of the Ryder Cup in Valderrama . His most prestigious tournament victory came in 2003 at the Volvo PGA Championship in the jump-off against the South African Trevor Immelman .
Ignacio Garrido is the eldest son of Antonio Garrido , a five-time tournament winner of the European Tour and Ryder Cup player of the year 1979. The two Garridos are only the second father-son combination after Percy and Peter Alliss , who each competed in the Ryder Cup.
