Ignatius Nascher Prize

The Ignatius Nascher Prize is awarded by the City of Vienna in recognition of achievements in the field of geriatrics , rehabilitation or long-term care .

The price

The prize was started in 2000 on the initiative of City Councilor for Health Sepp Rieder and named after Ignatz Leo Nascher . Every year there is a main prize for life's work and a sponsorship prize for a special scientific work or an innovative, evaluated and successful project in the field of geriatrics, rehabilitation or long-term care.

2001 James Williamson: in 1973 he became professor in Liverpool, 1976 professor of geriatrics in Edinburgh. Daniel Grob: With the FACE program, he has developed a fall algorithm which, in a multi-phase program, evaluates the risk of falling in older people and shows strategies.

2007 Gerald Kolb: University professor in Lingen in Germany. He worked sustainably scientifically on oncological diseases in old age. Elisabeth Grünberger, Alexandra Löw-Wirz: Age Network. Requirements profile for internships in old people's and nursing homes.
2008 Katharina Pils: Head of the Institute for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in the SMZ-Sophienspital. She has been working actively in the field of geriatric development for 15 years. 2009 Hans-Peter Meier-Baumgartner: From 2002 to 2005 director of the Albertinen-Haus - Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology in Hamburg. Founder and Medical Director of the Bobath Therapy Training Center. Johannes Pantel : OPTIMAL: Optimization of psychotropic therapy in nursing homes.
2010 Thomas Frühwald: Senior physician at the acute geriatrics department at the Hietzing Hospital. Head of the Austrian Society for Geriatrics and Gerontology (ÖGGG). Lecturer at the Institute for Ethics and Law in Medicine at the University of Vienna. Mathias Kaiser: Measurement of malnutrition in old and very old patients.
