Father of geriatrics

When Ignatz Leo Nascher visited the Lainz care home in Austria in 1908, which was highly modern for the time , he noticed the low death rate of the residents. A doctor explained the care concept to Nascher as follows: We deal with the inmates like the pediatrician with his children. Nascher then coined the term geriatrics (based on pediatrics) for medicine in old people.
