The column or cave perch (Dinopercidae) are a small family of perch relatives (Percomorphaceae) consisting of only two species .
features
The fish have a continuous dorsal fin , which is supported by 9 to 11 hard and 18 to 20 soft rays. The anal fin has 3 hard and 12 to 14 soft rays. The caudal fin just ends. The lower jaw protrudes. The supramaxillary, a bone of the upper jaw, is particularly large. The frontal bone has a central crest. The Vorkiemendeckel (Preoperculum) is sawn, the gill cover carries two spines. There are 7 gill rays. Three pairs of muscles are associated with the large swim bladder . The fish have 26 vertebrae .

- Centrarchops chapini ( Fowler , 1923) becomes 30 centimeters long and lives close to the coast in the southwestern Atlantic , off the coast of Angola and at the mouth of the Congo .
- Dinoperca petersi ( Day , 1875) becomes 75 centimeters long and lives in the western Indian Ocean off the coasts of Pakistan , southern Oman , Kenya , Mozambique and South Africa .
