Ignaz Battlogg

Ignaz Battlogg (born January 13, 1925 in St. Anton im Montafon , † August 22, 1981 in Schruns ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and farmer. Battlogg was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament from 1959 to 1981, and from 1947 to 1981 mayor of his home town of St. Anton in Montafon.

Life

Ignaz Battlogg was born on January 13, 1925 as the son of the mayor and farmer Ignaz Battlogg (senior) and his wife Maria in St. Anton in Montafon . He attended elementary school in his home community from 1931 to 1939, before starting out in 1940 as a helper in his parents' company at the age of 15. In 1941 the 16-year-old worked as a postman in St. Anton, in 1942 and 1943 as a burner and miller for the Sika company and the St. Anton i. M. In 1943 he joined the Nazi party a (membership number 9,525.798) and was drafted at the age of 18 years for military service, as a result he was on 19 August 1944, a war injury drew upon which it until the war ended in May 1945 in the hospital cured. From 1945 he worked initially as a worker and a year later as a foreman at the St. Anton plasterworks.

In 1947 Ignaz Battlogg joined the Austrian People's Party and became a member of the ÖAAB . In the same year he was elected to the municipal council of St. Anton im Montafon and mayor of the municipality. Battlogg subsequently exercised both community functions until his death. On January 5, 1953 Ignaz Battlogg married Margareta Karolina Zumkeller, with whom he had five children.

After the state elections on October 18, 1959 , Ignaz Battlogg entered the Vorarlberg state parliament for the ÖVP as a member of the Feldkirch constituency . Ignaz Battlogg, who was politically active from 1962 onwards, was the club chairman of the ÖVP parliamentary group from 1964 onwards. From May 18, 1976, he was also President of the Vorarlberg Chamber of Agriculture . In 1980 he was awarded the title of Economics Council, and in 1973 he was awarded the silver medal of the state of Vorarlberg . Ignaz Battlogg died on August 22, 1981 at the age of 56.
