Ignaz Franz Platzer
Ignaz Franz Platzer , also Ignaz Platzer the Elder , in Czech Ignác František Platzer (born July 6, 1717 in Pilsen , † September 27, 1787 in Prague ) was an Imperial and Royal court sculptor of the Bohemian Late Baroque .
The son of a sculptor also studied sculpture at the Academy in Vienna. Between 1750, after moving to Prague, and 1775 he was the dominant sculptor in Prague and all of Bohemia. His work is shaped by the rococo style in transition to classicism . From 1775 he worked temporarily in Vienna again. A large number of his models and preliminary drawings remained in the family's possession and in 1907 they went to the Prague Museum of Applied Arts, today the National Gallery in Prague .
