Igor Bakan

Igor Bakan (born 1984 in Memel ) is a Lithuanian opera singer ( bass baritone ).

Life

Igor Bakan studied singing in Klaipėda and received his diploma in 2007. From 2006 he performed there at the local opera house - among others as Don Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia , as Prince Gremin in Eugene Onegin , as Commendatore in Don Giovanni , as well as Uberto in La serva padrona , Doctor Grenvil in La traviata and in the title role of Le nozze di Figaro . During these years he also sang in Russia and Belarus.

In the 2008/09 season Bakan was engaged in the opera studio of the Bavarian State Opera in Munich and sang in Macbeth , Palestrina , Collin in La Bohème , Otello and Lohengrin , among others . In the following season he was engaged at the International Opera Studio at the Zurich Opera House , where he made his debut - under the direction of Nello Santi - as a turnkey at Tosca . In 2010 he toured Italy with Gustav Kuhn and Elektra von Richard Strauss .

This was followed by an engagement at the Vlaamse Opera in Gent and Antwerp, where he could be seen and heard as Daniel in Donizetti's Le duc d'Albe and as Oroe in Rossini's Semiramide . He also sang the ore at the Edinburgh Festival in summer 2011.

From 2012 to 2014 Bakan was engaged in the Junge Ensemble of the Theater an der Wien . In the main house he sang smaller roles in Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria and Le comte Ory , and more recently Doctor Grenvil. In the Dependance Wiener Kammeroper he took on central roles such as Ircano in Leonardo Vinci's rediscovered Semiramide riconosciuta , Don Magnifico in La Cenerentola and Publio in La clemenza di Tito .

The singer is married to the soprano Viktorija Bakan .
