Igor Eberhard

Igor Eberhard (born 1973 in Worms ) is a German anthropologist , journalist and author; he teaches at the Institute for Cultural and Social Anthropology at the University of Vienna .

Life

Igor Eberhard studied social anthropology , philosophy and history in Vienna and Mainz from 1994 to 2003 . This was followed by a job as a study assistant in the archive department at the Institute for Ethnology , Cultural and Social Anthropology at the University of Vienna. Eberhard has been a university lecturer there since 2009 . 2015 he completed his doctoral studies of cultural and social anthropology at the University of Vienna and was a PhD . Eberhard has been a project manager for the “Ethnographic Data Archiving” project at the Institute for Cultural and Social Anthropology since 2017.

Since 2007, Igor Eberhard has been co-editor and co-initiator of the series Pacific Dossiers of the Austrian South Pacific Society (OSPG). In addition to his teaching activities, he gives lectures a. a. in art galleries and museums on the subject of " Tattoos in Art".

Research and Teaching

Igor Eberhard's main research areas are tattoos, body modifications, beauty and the perception of beauty, memory research, material culture and popular culture.
