The Kunst Galerie Fürth (spelling kunst galerie fürth ) is a communal art gallery , located on Königsplatz in Fürth .

history

The project was initiated by the cultural advisor Gerd Fleischmann, the mayor Wilhelm Wenning and the Kulturring C , a local open association of visual artists in cooperation with the cultural office of the city of Fürth.

With the opening of the art gallery in autumn 2002, the city of Fürth became the last major German city to have a municipal art hall . The opening exhibition on the topic of currency exchange took place in the former building of the Sparkasse . Since then, six to eight exhibitions of contemporary art have taken place annually, both from the metropolitan region and from other federal states. Thematic exhibitions and exhibitions of art history complete the offer.

The head of the art gallery until 2020 was Hans-Peter Miksch , who after eighteen years will hand over the management to the art historian Natalie de Ligt . The superordinate agency is Division IV - Social, Youth and Culture of the City of Fürth.
