Igor Francetić

Igor Francetić (born April 21, 1977 in Zagreb ) is a former Croatian rower who was eighth in the 2000 Olympic Games .

Athletic career

Francetić won the bronze medal in a two-man without a helmsman at the Junior World Championships in 1994 , and in 1995 he rowed silver in a four-man with a helmsman . In 1996, 1997 and 1999 he won the Nations Cup, the forerunner of the U23 World Championships, in a four-man team with helmsman . In 1999 he also made his debut in the Rowing World Cup , when he took second place in the four with helmsman in Vienna. In 2000, Igor Francetić was part of the Croatian eighth who won the World Cup opener in Munich. At the Olympic Games in Sydney the British won ahead of the Australians, the Croatians with Igor Francetić, Tihomir Franković , Tomislav Smoljanović , Nikša Skelin , Siniša Skelin , Krešimir Čuljak , Igor Boraska , Branimir Vujević and helmsman Silvijo Petriško received the bronze medal. After a year in two without a helmsman, Francetić returned to the Croatian eighth in 2002 and finished fourth at the World Championships . After a ninth place with eighth at the 2003 World Championships , the international career of 1.95 m tall Francetić ended in 2004 before the Olympic Games in Athens , for which the Croatian eighth had not qualified.
