Branimir Vujević

Branimir Vujević (born November 29, 1974 in Zadar ) is a former Croatian rower who was eighth in the 2000 Olympic Games .

Athletic career

Vujević took fourth place in the four without a helmsman at the Junior World Championships in 1992 . In 1993 he reached fourth place in the four-man team in the Nations Cup, the forerunner of the U23 World Championships . In 1994 he won the bronze medal in the Nations Cup with the piloted four, and in 1996 he won the two without a helmsman . In 1997 he reached fifth place at the world championships with the four-man with helmsman . The following year he started in the four without a helmsman, which took twelfth place at the world championships. At the 1999 World Championships , Vujević reached ninth place with the Croatian eighth.

In the 2000 season, the Croatian eighth won the first World Cup regatta. At the Olympic Games in Sydney, the British won ahead of the Australians, the Croatians with Igor Francetić , Tihomir Franković , Tomislav Smoljanović , Nikša Skelin , Siniša Skelin , Krešimir Čuljak , Igor Boraska , Branimir Vujević and helmsman Silvijo Petriško received the bronze medal. The 1.83 m tall Vujević rowed internationally until 2008, but did not reach the A final at world championships. After a fifth place with eighth at the European Championships in 2008 , he ended his active career.
