Tomislav Smoljanović

Tomislav Smoljanović (born July 15, 1977 in Split ) is a former Croatian rower who was eighth in the 2000 Olympics .

Athletic career

The 1.90 m tall Tomislav Smoljanović won the silver medal in two-man with helmsman at the Junior World Championships in 1995 . Two years later, he entered the 1997 World Championships in the same boat class and finished tenth. In 1999 he won the World Cup in Vienna in a four-man with a helmsman , at the 1999 World Championships Smoljanović reached ninth place with the Croatian eighth.

In the 2000 season, the Croatian eighth won the first World Cup regatta. At the Olympic Games in Sydney, the British won ahead of the Australians, the Croatians with Igor Francetić , Tihomir Franković , Tomislav Smoljanović, Nikša Skelin , Siniša Skelin , Krešimir Čuljak , Igor Boraska , Branimir Vujević and helmsman Silvijo Petriško received the bronze medal.
