Igor Konstantinovich Lopatin

Igor Konstantinowitsch Lopatin ( Russian Игорь Константинович Лопатин ; born November 13, 1923 in Poltava , Ukrainian SSR ; † June 15, 2012 in Belarus ) was a Ukrainian-Belarusian biologist and zoologist .

Lopatin was a graduate of Kharkov University and was with a thesis on the leaf beetle at the University of Odessa doctorate. In 1965 he completed his habilitation in biological sciences. He was a professor at the Zoological Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR in Leningrad . He has taught at the Belarusian State University in Minsk since 1966 and headed the zoology department for 28 years.

He was an academician of the Moscow Petrovsky Academy of Sciences. He was the chairman of the Belarusian Entomological Society and an honorary member of the Russian Entomological Society. He was awarded the State Prize of the Republic of Belarus in the field of science and technology (1984) and winner of the Shevchenko Scientific Society Prize (1994). He has published over 200 scientific papers.
