Igor Valetov (born February 1, 1946 in Tashkent , Uzbek SSR ) is a former Uzbek sword fencer who competed for the Soviet Union.

successes

Igor Valetov was internationally successful, especially with the Soviet team. At world championships he succeeded in 1969 in Havana with her winning the world title. In 1971 there was a silver medal in Vienna and a bronze medal in Gothenburg in 1973 . At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich he was eliminated from the singles in the semi-finals, while he reached the battle for bronze with the team after a quarter-final victory against Sweden and a semi-final defeat against Hungary . There the team, which consisted of Hryhorij Kriss , Wiktor Modsolewski , Serhij Paramonow and Georgi Zažitski , defeated France 9: 4 and thus secured the bronze medal.
