The Ihema Lake is a lake in the east of Rwanda and is in the Akagera National Park at an altitude of about 1300 meters. The eastern bank forms the border between Rwanda and Tanzania. The Akagera Nile also runs parallel to the eastern bank.
location
On the shores of the lake there are several viewpoints that tourists can approach in the company of park rangers. There are also smaller campsites and a starting point for fishing trips on the lake. The National Park Hotel is a little further away on a hill. Tilapia fish, hippos and crocodiles can be found in the lake . Due to its gently sloping banks, the western bank is an important source of water for many animals living in the national park. The lake is connected to the Akagera Nile via the Akagera swamps .
