AE Ikaros Chalkidas ( Greek Α.Ε. Ίκαρος Χαλκίδας ) is a Greek basketball team, which is based in Chalkida .

history

Ikaros Esperos was founded in the summer of 2009 after the two Athens clubs Ikaros Kallitheas and Esperos merged. Esperos was founded in 1945 and, as a founding member of the Greek basketball association EOK, was one of the most historic clubs in Greece. In the first season after the merger, the club managed to move up to the A1 Ethniki as the winner of the second division .

Ikaros finished the 2012/2013 season in seventh place after the regular season and qualified for the play-offs for the first time in the club's history.

On July 18, 2013, the club announced that it would move to Chalkida for the 2013/2014 season . At the end of the season, the club finished last in the table and relegated to the A2 Ethniki .
